After 2 years of High School and his aunt dying in 1930 he returned to his his father and step mother in North Portland, where his father signed him into the Merchant Marines, for about 2 yrs. After his return to Portland he took up carpentry and weather stripping. He met and married Margie Alsleben in 1938, they divorced in 1958 and he married Henrietta Peetz in 1959, who died of cancer at 53 yrs in 1973. The next year he married Rhea Seimetz Gonder, also a widow. She died in 2003 and was buried next to her first husband Jack Gonder at Sunset. Tom like his ancestor Solomon was a great story teller, and had a great memory for events and people in his life.
By chance, he died on April 30, the same day his grandfather, Thomas Emerick died in 1930 and his father in law, Frank T.
Alsleben in 1951.
