Leo J. Abdella, 90 passed away peacefully on January 5th at the West Palm Beach Veterans Medical Center.Leo was born in Worcester MA and lived there until 2000 after which he moved to Florida with his wife of 67 years Theresa.Leo served in the US Navy during World War II in the waters of Okinawa aboard the USS Halligan. He received a Purple Heart for his heroic service after his ship was sunk in heavy battle losing 136 of its 300-man crew.Leo believed that God gave him another chance and has lived his life to honor, God, Family and Country. He leaves his wife Theresa, son, Leo F. and wife, Candace P. Abdella of Royal Palm Beach, FL and daughter Carolyn M. Darling of Seattle, WA and a large loving family of four generations.Leo was active in The American Legion of MA, The Military Order of the Purple Heart WPB, FL & was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Worcester, MAThere will be a graveside military service to be at 2:45pm, Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth FL.
