Janie Marie Bray Boyd, 62, 2841 Mosco Road, Axton, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville/Henry County.

She was born in Leaksville, N.C., on June 7, 1951, to the late Winfred Louis Bray and Hazel Kirks Bray.

She was retired after more than twenty eight years with Hooker Furniture Company, where she worked in open stock in machine room 2. She was a volunteer for Martinsville Rescue and Axton Life Saving Crew and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Boyd.

Surviving are one son, Scottie Lynn Cundiff of the home; one sister and brother-in-law, Vivian Herndon and husband, Douglas Wayne of Dry Fork; one brother and sister-in-law, Dexter Bray and wife Linda of Axton; two nieces, Pamela Champion of Dry Fork and Donna Adams of Bassett; and one nephew, Jeff Bray and his wife Kelly of Axton.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2014, in the Community Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. David Hatcher officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Burial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Community Funeral Service Chapel in Ridgeway and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers, to the Axton Life Saving Crew, P.O. Box 458 Axton, VA 24054
