He is the son of Ruth Lang (nee Hurt) and the late Mike Lang of Ellis; brother of Twila Weichert; nephew of Ester Marsden and Ray Hurt; uncle of Calvin, Stan and Eric Weichert and Bonny Carlson.
He entered the congregation of St Francis Xavier (Xaverian Brothers) on Sept 19, 1952. He received his BA in math and chemistry from Catholic University in 1958 and a masters degree in education administration at Fordham University in 1972.
He taught at Keith Academy, Lowell, Maine, in 1958 and 1959; St Joseph's, Bardstown, KY, from 1959-1963; Nazareth High, Brooklyn, NY, 1963-1973; and Mt St. Joseph High School, Baltimore, MD, 1974-1980.
He was the principal of St. Mathias School, Lanham, MD in 1981-1984; and principal at St. Mary's from 1984-1986. He then returned to Mount St. Joseph's from 1986-1992; and St. Theresa Parish, Rapid City, SD from 1992-2000.
Services were May 21 with a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at St Benedict's Church; interment in New Cathedral Cemetery.
