Barbara A. Barnard, 89, Martinsville, passed from this life on January 8, 2014 at the Grandview Convalescent Center in Martinsville.

She was born June 26, 1924 in Morgan County, Indiana to the late Andrew C. and Agnes (Carmichael) Burns.

Mrs. Barnard was a graduate of Martinsville High School with the Class of 1942. She attended Centennial Christian Church in Martinsville and she formerly served as President of the Kensington Club, Monday Afternoon Art Club and the Women's Club. She also previously served on the Jimmy Nash City Park Board and was a member of the Foxcliff Women's Golf Club. She was also instrumental in the restoration of the Martinsville Railroad Depot.

She was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed music, playing the piano and cooking.

She leaves behind her loving husband of nearly 68 years, Robert E. Barnard of Martinsville. They were married on January 27, 1946. She also leaves behind two sons, Robert D. Barnard (wife, Katy) of Martinsville and Danon E. Barnard of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Andrew, Pam and Bobbi Barnard, Becky Doemland (husband, Chris) and Heather Forrey (husband, Rob) and great grandchildren, Cari and Matt Doemland and Caden and Kinsey Forrey.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 pm and Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 10:00-11:00 am at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center. Rev. Steve Moody will officiate at a service celebrating her life on Saturday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hilldale Cemetery in Martinsville.
