Jerry Earl Hansen

May 2, 1942 ~ December 24, 2013

SYRACUSE – Our much loved father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend passed away on December 24, 2013 from heart failure. This beautiful baby boy was born on May 2, 1942 to Gordon Earl and Darlene Danzer Hansen. He was the apple of their eye. Later came sisters Jean and Jillary.

Jerry attended Syracuse Elementary, North Davis Junior High and Graduated from "Dear Ole' Davis High" in 1960. Following in his father's footsteps, he was an athlete extraordinaire, excelling in baseball, basketball, and golf. Following graduation Jerry worked at the family business, Hansen's Lumber Company in Ogden, attended College Classes at Weber, and enlisted in the Air Force where he was a reservist for a number of years. At the age of 19 he served an LDS Mission to the Gulf States. Following his mission he sold cars in Salt Lake City, and it is there he met the love of his life, Linda Marie Shue. They were married on December 2, 1966, and several years later on September 7, 1974 they became proud parents of Hillary Jean Hansen. Hillary was Jerry's best friend and constant companion. He loved and adored her, she meant the world to him and he meant the world to her. Her devotion to her dad was remarkable and their love was unconditional, they were a true team. Although Jerry and Linda later divorced, they remained good friends. Jerry then moved to Hawaii where he spent a number of years, then back to Utah, where he owned and operated Hansen Signs. At the time of his death he was living in Stuart, Florida.

Jerry is survived by his wonderful daughter, Hillary Jean Hansen of Stuart, Florida; his sisters Jean (Charles) Jones of Layton, Utah; and Jillary (Roger) Argyle of Sunset, Utah; his nieces Monica (Paul) Spackman and AnaLisa (Brett) Hudson, and nephew Joshua Argyle, aunts Doris (Russell) Hansen Cox of St. George, Utah; Lizette (Morris) Hansen of Syracuse, Utah; Olive (Keith) Danzer Hualde (Pierre) of Kaysville, Utah; and tons of loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Darlene Hansen, grandparents Clyde and Hannah Cook Hansen and McKinley and Rhea Violet Mitchell Danzer, uncles and aunts Russell Hansen, Morris Hansen, Norman and Faye Hansen, Jack and Maureen Marble, Charlotte Hansen and Keith Danzer, and his faithful dog Karma.

Jerry was a free spirit, he loved life. He was the coolest dad and brother ever, always with the coolest car. His personality, quick wit and sense of humor could not be matched, ever so laid back and unassuming. If possible, he was generous to a fault. He will remain in our hearts forever, but we know his reunion with his passed family is rejoiced. We love you Jerry and we will miss you.

Our family would like to thank our many family members and friends for your love and continued support, you are our rock.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Syracuse City Cemetery, 1290 South 1000 West, Syracuse, Utah.

Services entrusted to Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
