Son of George A. and Sara Welton DeWoody, he married Nancy Pearl Beach, lived at Polk RD 2, Victory Twp, was a retired highway maintenance worker, died of cancer of the prostate and chronic myocardial degeneration, per death certificate 9330, whose informant was Paul A. DeWoody.

Lauren A. DeWoody, 82, of Victory Township, Polk RD 2, died at home at 8:35 pm Wednesday. He was born May 20, 1876, in Victory Township, son of George A. and Sara Welton DeWoody.

He had been in failing health for some time, but his condition did not become critical until a week ago. He retired from the department of highways in September 1954 after more than 25 years of service. He served as Republican Committeeman in Victory Township for 20 tears, retiring recently.

On Nov. 25, 1903, he married Nancy Pearl Beach, who survives, with a son, Paul A. DeWoody of Pearl, Polk RD 2; a daughter, Ruth Leonare DeWoody, Franklin; a sister, Mrs. Irene Mayes, Franklin; two brothers, Harry DeWoody of Findlay, OH, and Leroy DeWoody of Grant's Pass, OR; 6 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 pm Saturday at Donovan Funeral Home, Clintonville, with Rev. W. C. McCallister, pastor of Hickory Grove Church, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
