Born in Blacksburg, IA, he was a son of the late Lyle Scott and Ruth Sharp Hopkins. Dale retired from the US Army having served during the Vietnam War. He was a Mason, life member of VFW, a member of the American Legion, Scottish Rite, and the Greenwood Moose Lodge Chapter 1654. Dale was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a son, Lyle Sidney Hopkins (Donna) of Augusta, GA; two daughters, Ruth Louise Tyler of Pelion, SC and Heidi Hopkins Dail of Irmo; a sister, Peggy Kirkpatrick of CO; a brother, William C. Hopkins of San Diego, CA; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Lynn, Autumn Hopkins, Barrett Hauswirth, Scott E. Tyler, Jr.(Ashley), Synthia Ruth Tyler, Brittany Anne Buzhardt and Dalton West Dail; and two great grandchildren, Emily Lynn and Truett Lynn.
The family is at the home.
