"When Daniel Pitman was working in the mine in Scofield, his parents were living in Spanish Fork. On visiting his parents he met a beautiful young lady by the name of Mary Ann Boyack, and he became deeply interested in her. She lived with, and was reared by her grand-parents ALEXANDER and HANNAH CLARK.
"By some means Daniel was able to bring coal from Scofield, so he provided the Clarks with their winter supply of coal.
"In those days the young people had to make much of their own entertainment. One evening Daniel and Mary Ann choose to stay home and toast their shins by the fire and just talk. The fire died and Daniel was in the act of filling the fire box when grandmother Clark walked in, she looked at him and said something like this, "Now lookie here young man, you go easy on that coal, don't you know it's hard to come by?" After she left he and Mary Ann had good laugh.
"Mary Ann and Daniel were married 26 May 1881 at Salt Lake City Utah. Go to her husband's, Daniel's memorial for details of their married life"
After Daniel "was Killed in the 1 May 1900 Winter quarters Mine disaster she married [George] Wilson"
