David Franklin Redding, Jr., age 85, of Mena died January 7, 2014 at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born Wednesday, March 21, 1928 to David Franklin "Frank" Sr. and Estella Langley Redding in Mountain Fork, Arkansas.

David graduated from Mena High School in 1948. His family moved to Texas in 1950. He married Cynthia Davis on May 30, 1955 and became an engineering technician, working for the Texas Department of Transportation in Bonham, Texas for 32 years. After retiring in 1987, he and Cynthia moved back to Mountain Fork in 1988.

David was a quiet, deep and loving family man. He was an outdoorsman who took pleasure in fishing, deer and turkey hunting and enjoyed woodworking. He attended First Baptist Church in Mena, was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harlow Redding; sister, Jessie Harris; and twin brother and sister, Eugene Redding and Ernestine Farmer.

Mr. Redding is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cynthia Redding of the home; three daughters and sons in law, Rebecca Jean Denney and Freddie of Quitman, Texas, Brenda Klose and Gary of Savoy, Texas, and Loretta Blake and Paul of Rogersville, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Erin Klose of Savoy, Texas, David Denney of Irving, Texas, Dara Denney of Tyler, Texas, twins, Reed Klose and Ryan Klose of Savoy, Texas, Hannah McGaughy of Farmers Branch, Texas, Audrey McGaughy of Brenham, Texas, Alyssa Blake of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Preston Blake of Rogersville, Missouri and Benjamin Blake of Rogersville, Missouri, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 10, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Mena with Dr. Bill Bullington and Keith Blake officiating. Music will be provided by Paul Blake. Interment will follow in the Rocky Cemetery in Rocky under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Flight 8:36, Widow's Might, 5249 E Farm Rd, Rogersville MO 65742 or Gideons International, P.O. Box 781, Mena, Arkansas 71953.

Pallbearers are grandsons, David Denney, Reed Klose, Ryan Klose, Preston Blake, Benjamin Blake, and nephew, Terry Ervin.
