Ezra Forest Comfort, son of James H and Sarah Benedict Comfort, was born June 22, 1863 in Knox county Ohio and departed this life at one O'clock, Saturday morning, July 8, 1944 at his home eight miles northeast of Wells, Kansas, at the age of 81 years and 16 days.While a small child he moved with his parents to Iowa and later to Kansas where in 1874 they started a home on the virgin prairie in Grant township.He was the oldest of eleven children. His parents, two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death, one brother, WG Comfort, passing away Nov 9, 1940.His young manhood was spent in employment near Wells except for a year spent in Mexico, where a number of relatives and neighbors made a settlement in 1890.He was united in marriage to Eustina Marte May 12, 1909 and to this union were born four children. One daughter, Ethelyn Marie died in infancy. He had lived on their attractive farm home in Durham township, Widerange District 63 since their marriage. Mr Comfort was willing to co-operate in any helpful enterprise serving as a member of the local school board a number of years and helping with the local churches, serving on the board of trustees for the Mt. Liberty church the past fifteen years.
