Harold was born Sept 23, 1922
in Newell to Ingvard and Molly
Jorgensen. He grew up in the
Newell area and graduated from
Newell High School in 1941. He
served in the U.S. Navy during the
World War II era. Following his
discharge, he returned to Newell and
began farming, which he continued
until retiring in 1984.
On June 15, 1951, he married
Grace Petersen at Gilmore City.
They became the parents of three
children.
Harold was a charter member
Bethel Baptist Church, where he
had served in many capacities for
many years, he had been an active
member of Gideons International,
an organization that distributed
Bibles around the world.
Harold served on the Newell
Coop Elevator Board for 12 years,
was involved with Don's Farm
Supply for several years, was
elected to the Newell Town Council
for several years, and briefly served
as mayor of Newell. He was also a
member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his
parents and a brother, Lowell, who
died in infancy.
