She was united in marriage to George Woodville Thornton in April of 1938. Following their marriage the couple resided in Ceres. They moved to Turlock in 1963 and had resided there since. Trecia and Woodie celebrated over sixty-two years of marriage prior to his passing in 2000.
Trecia was employed as a floor lady at Tillie Lewis Foods for forty years until the cannery closed in the 1970s.
Among her special interests, Trecia enjoyed gardening, especially caring for her many irises. She also volunteered for many years at the Salvation Army.
Trecia is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Woodie; her son, Norman Thornton; two grandsons, three brothers and seven sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Wilson of Modesto, California and her son and daughter in law, Greg and Leslie Thornton of Tiburon, California; also surviving are her five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
Remembrances may be donations to Community Hospice of Modesto, in her memory.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014, 11:00 A.M. at Franklin & Downs Colonial Chapel, 704 12th Street, Modesto, California.
Burial Rites and Interment will follow at Ceres Memorial Park.
