Mrs. Croker had been a member of New Harmony Baptist Church for 55 years. She lived in Hiram and Paulding Co., most of her life. Mrs. Croker lived a full and useful life and was loved by a host of friends both in GA and Charlotte, NC where she spent several months last winter.
Velie was a good cook consistently day by day. She was an ardent gardener of flowers and vegetables. For many years she canned and dried hundreds of pounds of fruit and vegetables yearly. She was never idle and always worked with her hands in many areas as crocheting, embroidering house furnishing, quilting, sewing and hand crafting wheat straw baskets and pine needle plaques.
Velie enjoyed playing the organ, singing, attending church, and reading. The latter she did mostly in the winter months. She was very active until her last few years when arthritis took a hold on her and even in her last six months she made several loverly aprons. She died of a massive heart attack at her sister's home in Kirkwood 7-10-1960.
