Thomas J. (Doc) Butler, 83, formerly of 5623 Maywood Ave., Hammond, died Sunday at Skylane Acres Nursing Home, Crete, Ill.
A former vaudeville entertainer, who, with his wife, traveled for years with a tent medicine show, hence his nickname, "Doc". Mr. Butler served as musician with the Hammond Lions Club for several years. He was a member of the Federation of Musicians Local 203, life member of the United Spanish War Veterans Ernest R. Pullman Camp, and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 802.
Survivors include a brother, David Marion in San Luis Obispo, Calif., and several nieces and nephews in Ohio.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Dalton & Son Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond.
