Funeral services for Jesse Peña, 49, of Huntington will be held Friday, January 10, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Cary Modisett officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery.
Mr. Peña was born October 8, 1964 in Del Rio, Texas, and died Monday, January 6, 2014 in a local hospital. He had resided in Huntington for 15 years.
Mr. Peña served four years in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division as a Special Forces paratrooper. He was an expert combination welder and had been employed with T&B Construction for six years. Jesse was an outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish and ride 4-wheelers, most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He had an unconditional love for his family and friends. He attended Shawnee Church.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Tonia Peña; daughters, Jesseca Evett and husband Bruce and Raquel Carrell and husband Jason, (Huntington); grandchildren, Hunter Carrell, Jaxon Evett, Gauge Carrell, Lacee Evett and Daisy Carrell; mother, Virginia Longoria (Del Rio); father, Jesus Peña (San Antonio); sisters, Cathy Martinez and Cindy Underwood; brothers, Author Peña and Jeremy Longoria; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gary and Jo Ann Holland (Huntington); sisters-in-law, Carrie Smith and Valerie Mahar; brothers-in-law, Randall Smith and Micheal Mahar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willie and Carolina Longoria and Jesus and Olivia Peña; son-in-law, Hunter Carrell; and sister-in-law, Joy Holland.
