Leola Dale Hall, the daughter of Lillie May (Clupper) and Samuel Fredrick Burgess, was born July 21, 1915 in Smith County, Kansas in the Lebanon community. Leola departed this life on Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.

A lifelong resident of the area, Leola received her formal education attending the Lebanon (KS.) schools. She was united in marriage with Delmar Leo Davis on February 29, 1936. This union was blessed with six children. They continued to make their home and raise their family in the community. For many years Leola was an Avon representative and enjoyed visiting with her many friends. She worked doing housekeeping and babysitting for neighbors, and for a number of years she operated the café. Delmar passed away on September 26, 1974.

On November 6, 1977, she married Vernon Hall. They continued to make Lebanon their home. Vernon also preceded her in death on February 7, 1996.

Leola was involved in a number of civic and community organizations. She was a member of the Christian Church and always looked forward to participating in the church's various activities. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Over Sixties Club. For years she volunteered her time helping to distribute commodities. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing cards, dancing and playing the guitar with Delmar and her brother, Guy, at area dances. Her greatest love and enthusiasm in life was for her kids and grandkids, and she especially looked forward to time spent with them. Leola's personality was pervaded by her strong work ethic and determination. She will be deeply missed by all who know her.

Preceding her in death were: parents; husbands, Delmar and Vernon; daughter, Donna Gibson; sons, Verlin Davis and Virgil Davis, a grandson; sisters, Ruby McMahon, Martha McConnell and Esther Burgess and brothers, Elmer "Jack", George, Baxter "Red", John and Guy Burgess.
