"James A. Bland, 831 18th street, a retired carpenter, died last night at his home. The body was taken to the Stamey Mortuary.
Born in Coachville, Mo., Mr. Bland came to St Joseph about 30 years ago. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Beulah Bland of the home; a stepson, Don Devers of St Joseph; a sister, Mrs. Ella Seals of Centerville, Iowa; his stepmother, Mrs. Margaret Bland, also of Centerville; and two grandchildren." St Joseph Gazette, January 14, 1954
