Vivian R. Butler, 93, of Sandusky, died Monday afternoon, Jan. 6, 2014, in her residence.

She was born Jan. 24, 1920, in Sandusky, and was a 1938 graduate of Sandusky High School. Vivian was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Sandusky. She retired as a school bus driver for the Margaretta Local Schools. Prior to this, she had worked at the Ohio Bell Company and the former New Departure-Hyatt, Division of General Motors. She loved to read the Bible, crochet, and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons, Gerald L. "Jerry" Butler of Sandusky, Duane C. (Velma) Butler of Monroeville, Richard A. (Brenda) Butler of Castalia; two daughters, Bonnie Marquardt of Norwalk, Cynthia L. (Saul) Chavez of Sandusky; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy (Nelson) Meade of Sandusky, and Rhoda (Ernest) Friend of Castalia; one sister-in-law, Ruth Brunner of Sandusky; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Butler in 1977; one daughter, Patricia Ann Stanley; one daughter-in-law, Yolanda D. Butler; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Betty Robison.

Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Ave., and from 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, until funeral services at 11 a.m., at Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. David L. Hixson will officiate. Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery, Groton Township.
