Poet. Born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, he was a writer, known for composing ballads and poems for some of the most influential French films of the 20th Century. He participated actively in the Surrealist movement and was also a member of the agitprop Groupe Octobre. His poems were collected and published in the books, “Paroles Words” (1946), “Spectacle” (1951), “Rain and Good Weather” (1955), “Histoires Stories” (1963), “Fatras” (1971) and “Things and Others” (1973). Prévert wrote a number of screenplays for films such as “Bizarre, Bizarre” (1937), “Port of Shadows” (1938), “The Night Visitors” (1942), “The Children of Paradise” (1945) and “Seine Meets Paris” (1957). In his later years, he wrote poem and screenplays for a number of animated movies. He died at age 77 in Omonville-la-Petite, France.
