She was born in Smithfield, Utah on April 14, 1927 to LeRoy and Florence Burgess Nelson. The youngest of five children, her siblings are Paul Nelson (deceased), Phyllis (Jack) Allsop of Smithfield, June Jessop (deceased) and Janice Hanson of North Ogden. She attended Cache Valley Schools, graduating from North Cache High School. She later moved to Ogden where she worked for two years at Defense Depot Ogden. It was there that she met the love of her life, her husband, Paul A. Burrows. They were married on March 14, 1947 and had three beautiful children together.
In 1964, Paul and Dorothy solemnized their vows in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple. After 39 years of marriage, she said goodbye to her husband as he lost his courageous battle with cancer.
Dorothy was an active member of the LDS church and enjoyed many church callings. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, but most of all, spending time with her family.
Dorothy is survived by her three children; Linda (Steven) Rasmussen of North Ogden, Brent Burrows of Ogden and Darrell (Cate) Burrows of West Haven. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to services from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be held at the Huntsville Cemetery.
