Dale A. Dixon, 85, a resident of the Hillsboro community, died Monday afternoon, January 6, 2014 at Empress Health and Rehabilitation in Hillsboro.

DALE ALLEN DIXON was born on February 24, 1928 in Ionia, Iowa, the son of the late Clarence and Thyra (Michaelson) Dixon. He was raised and received his education in the Nashua community, having been a graduate with the Nashua High School Class of 1946.

He was united in marriage to Charlene J. Pierce on January 5, 1947 in the Little Brown Church in the Valley in Nashua, Iowa. They celebrated 67 years of marriage together this past January 5. Following their marriage they made their home in the communities of Battle Ground, Washington and Yuma, Arizona before moving to the Hillsboro community in 2007, where they have resided since.

Dale worked as a Machinist in Vancouver, Washington for approximately 20 years until his retirement.

He was a member of the I.A.M. Union.

Among his special interests, Dale enjoyed fishing. He had a commercial fishing license for over ten years and docked at Ilwaco, Washington.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Thyra Dixon and his two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene Dixson, of the family home in Hillsboro, Oregon; his children and their spouses, Susan Graves and Steve Sanders, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Leigh Gray, of Austin, Minnesota; Mike and Rose Dixon, of Velm, Washington and Tom Dixon, of Hillsboro, Oregon and his two sisters, Alice Richards and Marilyn Bigelow, of Iowa.

Also surviving are his many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
