Married Alice Estelle Willey daughter of Lewis A. and Alice E. (Cole) Willey Dec. 10 1939 in Conway, Carroll, New Hampshire.

Ralph served as a 2nd Lt., U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Carroll County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on April 13, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Barber and also as Married.

Ralph died in the "Line Of Duty" of a non-battle related incident in Florida during the war. Possibly during a flight training mission.

The following article appeared in the Springfield Republican (Springfield, MA) on Sat., 03 Apr 1943, as follows:
“FIVE FLIERS KILLED IN FLORIDA CRASH – Instructor, Three Student Officers and Aerial Engineer Die in Fall of Heavy Bomber – Dead Are Listed – Sebring, Fla., April 2 – (AP) – Four officers and one enlisted man were killed today when a heavy bomber from Hendricks field here crashed south of Lake Placid, about 20 miles from here. The public relations office listed the dead and next of kin as: “-- ….”Second Lieut Ralph S. Massey, student; parents, Mr and Mrs William H. Massey, Wolfeboro, N. H.; wife, North Conway, N. H.”
