Orville "LaRue" Davis

February 3, 1930 - January 4, 2014

Brigham City- Orville LaRue Davis, 83, passed away suddenly at his home on January 4, 2014 after many years of health issues, with his dear wife at his side. LaRue was born on February 3, 1930, in Brigham City, Utah, to David Orval and Mary Cecelia Davis. He grew up in Corinne and Brigham City, graduating from Box Elder High School.

He served in the Korean Conflict in the heavy artillery division from 1951-1953, earning the Korean Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal. Upon being honorably discharged, he joined the Army Reserves and served in the 6th Battalion 83rd Field Artillery for 30 years, where he retired as a Master Sergeant.

LaRue married Carolyn Jensen on February 1, 1955. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on June 18, 1956.

LaRue worked as an electrician and lineman for Brigham City Corp. and Thiokol Corp., retiring in 1992. He was an Elder in the LDS Church, where he served as Young Men's Secretary and as Assistant Scoutmaster.

He enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling in his younger years. During his later years he developed a love for woodworking. Hours were spent in his shed creating various items including the gingerbread men for the Brigham City Christmas Village display. He was a patient man who reveled in tedious things and rarely became upset with anything or anyone. His family was his greatest joy.

LaRue is survived by his wife Carolyn; daughters Jean (Dennis) Decker of Harrisville, Tammy (Michael) Lott of Brigham City, along with five grandchildren, Garrett Decker, McKell Lott (Szeth) Simmons, Nathan Lott (Lindsey), Jacob Lott (Beth), and Kinsey Lott; and two great-grandchildren, Blaine and Bryce Simmons. Brothers Dick, Keith and Kent Davis; sisters Colleen Wilcox and Janet Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wayne and James D. Davis, and sisters Betty Davis and Carol Butler.

Special thanks to Nicole Scothern and Jodie Jones from Integrity Hospice for all their help during LaRue's illness.

A viewing will be held Thursday, January 9, 2014, from 6-8 PM at the Brigham City 7th/River Ward Building located at 541 N 100 W. Funeral services will begin at 11 AM on Friday, January 10, 2014, with a viewing at 9:30 to 10:45 AM at the Brigham City 7th/River Ward Chapel.
