"I am happy to call you my dad and I'm proud to be your daughter-in-law. You've treated me as your own." ~ Candi Dudley

Roger Gilbert Bachman was born, reared, and lived all his life in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014, at St Luke's Hospice in Bethlehem, PA after a brief illness. He had suffered with emphysema for the last decade. He would have been eighty-eight years old on January 8th.
He was the husband of the late June Maime Markert and the son of the late Earl W Bachman and the late Miriam Herman. He was a member of St John's United Church of Christ of Fullerton and had retired from Stanley-Vidmar in Allentown.
During World War II Dad served state-side in the US Army Air Corps (USAAC), the statutory forerunner of the US Air Force.
My beloved Craig inherited his sense of warm humor and practical jokes from both his parents, but more notably his sense of honor and loyalty to family and friends. Dad and Mom's home rocked with laughter and good cheer at all times.
Dad could speak Pennsylvania-Dutch and had me going all the years I knew him. I miss those tidbits of humor each week when we spoke on the phone.
He leaves behind a son, Randy Scott Bachman of Coplay, Pennsylvania; sister, Carol Ann Hagenbach of Florida; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his eldest son, Craig Paul Bachman, Sr; two brothers; and a sister.
On January 9, 2014 Dad was interred beside his beloved wife, June.
He is so deeply, deeply missed. ❤

Irish Blessing
Until we meet again, may God
Hold you in the palm of his hand.

All Is Well
Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the same easy way which you always did,
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It it the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.
Henry Scott Holland, Canon of St Paul's Cathedral
