HAMPTON, Herman Allen, 64, of Charles City, departed this life January 4, 2014. He was preceded in death by parents, Julia and Lindsay Hampton; brother, Richard Hampton; and sister, Jean Adkins. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Betty M. Hampton; daughter, Marchelle Hampton; step-daughters, Tomeka and LaTonya Coley and Shantell C. Judkins; one grandson, five step-grandsons; seven sisters, Dora Bowman (Harry), Molly Charity (Melvin), Nancy Turner, Bettie Gresham, Joan Cotman (Richard), Pearl Greene (Mac) and Julia Dickerson (Wesley); and a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at March Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave., where viewing will be held Wednesday, January 8, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and where family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral service 1 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Little Elam Baptist Church, 8840 Church Ln. Charles City, Va. Where Rev. Frank M. Long is pastor. Rev. James Johnson Jr. eulogist. Interment church cemetery.
