"Bertha O. Rollins, 84, of 17169 Iona Ave., died Tuesday evening at her home. A native of Nebraska, her father was the late George Blakely who came to Lemoore in 1900. Her family, early Tulare Lake farmers, constructed the Stratford to Kettleman City Blakely Canal. She and her husband, Gerald, who died in October of last year, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary the previous April. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Esther Hotchkiss of Lemoore; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Phipps-Dale Chapel in Lemoore with Dr. Harold Wilson of the Lemoore United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot in the Lemoore Cemetery." HANFORD SENTINEL, 22 Dec. 1917.
