Douglas R. Horton, 51, Shawnee, KS greeted his Lord and loved ones (parents, siblings, and friends) on December 23, 2013. Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 28th at 11:00a.m. at Antioch Church, located at the corner of I-35 and Antioch, at Exit 230. 5201 Antioch Rd. Overland Park, KS 66202. Doug was born March 30, 1962 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Mike and Connie Horton. He is survived by: his wife of nearly 20 years, Sherry; sons, Daryl Horton, Eric Horton, Adam Horton; step sons, Stephen Burton, and Brent Burton; Children from his former marriage, Laura Horton, and Patrick Horton. He also leaves behind his mother in law, Shirley Cook, and several beloved brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Doug proudly served in the US Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, California, and retired at the rank of Sergeant. He led his family with his strong faith in Jesus Christ, his love of family togetherness, and a distinct sense of humor. He was a member of Antioch Church and loved singing with the choir, praising and worshiping the Lord. He had a big heart, a brilliant mind, and was a hard worker who could fix just about anything. He enjoyed helping people. He especially liked to cook for others, and he took great pleasure in gardening. He will be deeply missed.
