Tragic Mishap Takes Life Of Prominent Dallas Citizen
Mr. Jesse J Cooper, one of the leading business men and one of the outstanding citizens of Dallas was killed early Sunday night by an automobile which struck him as he was crossing the street in front of his home. he was 65 years old.
Jesse, as he was affectionately known by his innumerable friends, spent most of his adult life in Dallas. During these years he gave his community a devotion and support which made him a leader in every move and every endeavor for social and civic progress. he set an example of honestly and integrity never excelled by anyone within the memory of those who associated with him. Friendly, genial, lovable, he occupied a rare place in the affections not only of his close friends but of all who were privileged to know him. He had an innate nobility of character which made his life a great influence for good. He was a member of the Baptist church and a faithful and devote worker in that institution.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Baptist Church. Rev Amos Cash, former pastor, conducted the service, assisted by rev Eldon Dittemore, pastor, and Rev A F Howington, pastor of the First Methodist Church.
Surviving Mr. Cooper are a daughter, Mary Frances; a brother, Oliver P Cooper, of Atlanta, and a sister, Mrs. B F Wills of this county.
Interment was in the Dallas cemetery, under Masonic rites, he being a member of the local Masonic lodge. Lee Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
