Opal I. "Toby" Norton, 86 years, passed away to be with her Lord and Savior, on Friday, December 30, 2016 here in T. or C., New Mexico. She was born June 18, 1930 in Anthony, Kansas and raised on a farm in Lamont, Oklahoma. Upon graduation she and her family moved to Hot Springs, New Mexico, where she met and married Billy C. Norton, her sweetheart.

She loved music, sang, played many instruments, and loved to dance. She wrote Christian songs and wrote the lyrics by hand, several were published. She was in a marching band in High School and won several awards and trophies throughout her life, for her musical ability.

She enjoyed volunteering thru the RSVP local organization, the Christian services, at the NM State Veterans Home and the Sierra Health Care Center. She won numerous ribbons and metals from her Senior Olympic competitions.

She was a devoted mother and wife. She made her family her priority in life.

She is survived by her son, Tom & Sabrina Norton; and her daughter, Totsie & Bob Williams, all of Las Palomas and Williamsburg, New Mexico. Her brother, Frank & Louise McKee, of Deming, New Mexico; grandchildren - Shilow and Sarah Norton of Reserve, New Mexico, Tawnya and Nick Brummett of Ketchikan, Alaska, Trent and Davinnia Norton of Deming, New Mexico, and Tarah and Jeremy Redshaw of Dove Creek, Colorado, along with 11/great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy C. Norton; a son, Billy C. Norton, Jr.; her parents, George and Mable McKee; her brother, and sisters, along with several nieces and a nephew.

In this world the celebration comes in the beginning of life, everything starts out young and gets older & older. But in the Kingdom of God, it is the opposite; you don't move from life to death, you move from death to life.

A Celebration of Toby's life will be held at the First Baptist Church, 220 Broadway, T. or C., NM on Friday, January 6, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Dudley Bristow and Rev. Jack Cain officiating.
