Leslie "Les" Francis Spencer

SALEM - Leslie "Les" Francis Spencer, 61, passed away on October 3, 2008 in Salem. He was born March 4, 1947 in Downey, Calif.

Les worked as a mechanic and enjoyed teaching his boys all that he knew. Les held one of the first patents on the motorcycle trike. He was an avid fisherman and loved taking his kids and grandkids out at Hagg Lake in Gaston. He also liked to spend his time working around his home and yard and spending time with his family. He never missed sending a birthday card to his kids and grandkids.

Les was preceeded in death by his infant daughter, Lori Jean; and his mother, Letha Spencer. Les is survived by his father, Leland "Lee" Spencer; children, Les Spencer, Cathy (David) Bonneau, Shelley (Tom) Elliot, Frank (Karen) Bracken, Mark (Kathy) Spencer, Kevin Spencer, and Lonnie (Samantha) Spencer; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brothers, Larry (Connie) Spencer and Dennis (Janie) Spencer; sister, Evelyn Lawler; numerous nieces and nephews; and his former spouse and good friend, Suzie Harchenko.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7 at Keizer Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. also Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Keizer Funeral Chapel, 4365 River Road N, Salem. Interment will follow memorial at Restlawn Memory Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society , P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 . Arrangements are by Keizer Funeral Chapel.
