Hettie (Crews) Hughes, the daughter of William Benjamin and Ida Elizabeth (McGee) Hughes was a retired seamtress for Salant & Salant Co., Loretto, TN. She was the Mother of 3, who she preceded in death.

My Mother, Hettie (Crews) Hughes, was a Wonderful Mother, Christian and my friend.
Born in 1921, her Father, William Bejamin Crews, died when she was very young. Her Mother, Ida Elizabeth (McGee) Hughes and Mom lived at the county farm for a short time. Later, after the death of her Mother, Mom moved from relative-to-relative doing menial labor to "earn her keep."
Educated to the 2nd grade, she was one of the smartest persons I have ever known.
