William Forrest "Biff" Hamman, 68, of Oakwood, passed away January 3, 2014, in Tyler, Texas. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Teague.

Biff was born in Dallas, Texas, to Clyde William and Bennie Grayce Pope Hamman. He received his Bachelor's Degree from LSU, while also setting track records. He furthered his education by receiving a PHD in Latin American History from the University of Guatemala. He proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot.

On December 9, 1970, Biff married Lilian R. Cowart in Fort Hood, Texas. He was a ham radio operator for many years, K50F0. Biff was an avid bicyclist and loved the outdoors. He managed a hunting lodge, enjoyed making stained glass, tending to beehives and vineyards. Biff was, presently, Ranch Manager for Jones Brothers Ranch. While he was a busy man, nothing was more important to him than his family and spending time with them.

He was preceded in death by a son, Peter Hamman; and his father.

Biff is survived his wife, Lilian Hamman; son, Buckley S. Hamman, of Chicago, IL; daughters, Verna Grayce Chao and husband, Peter, of Hermosa Beach, CA, and Hester Blair Hamman, of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren, Honore and Alexander Chao; mother, Bennie G. Hamman; sister, Carol Hamman Jones and husband, David, of Austin; nephew, Alexander Jones; and niece, Marleigh Jones. I14
