Lonnie Maurice Gibson, 66, of Longview, Texas, went to his heavenly home Wednesday, January 1, 2014 surrounded by his family.

Mr. Gibson was born March 18, 1947 in Eldorado, Arkansas, to George and Melba Ruth Gibson.

He attended and graduated from Kilgore High School. He majored in Music at Kilgore College where he played the saxophone in the Ranger Band. It was during this time that he got to play on the same stage as Carl "Doc" Severinsen. In 1973 he married the love of his life, Judy Ann and over the next 40 years they had three children and made many happy and loving memories. He attended Grace Fellowship of Kilgore. For 27 years Lonnie worked, at a job that he loved, as a sales associate for Haverty's Furniture in Longview. In February of 2013 he was named Top Salesman. He loved traveling, spending time with family and friends and watching the Dallas Cowboys, cars, music and dancing. As he faced each new day while fighting cancer, he faced it with the same determination and integrity as he did his job. Lonnie will be remembered as hardworking and as a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother and grandfather. He will be truly missed by all the loving family and friends he leaves behind.

He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Judy Gibson; three children Kirk Gibson and wife Holley, Mandy Bradberry and husband Mack and Jonathan Gibson and wife Cara; mother, Melba Gibson; sister, Loweta Hyatt; brother and sister-in-law Gary and Judy Gibson; nine grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as many other loving family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father; George, nephew; Michael Gibson, niece; Adrianne Reynolds, special cousins; Barbara Jean Rotton and Dorene Thurmon and a great-granddaughter; Falyn Bradberry.
