Albert Francis Amann, Sr., 52, Mechanicville garage proprietor, died at Leonard Hospital, Troy, NY, after a short illness. Mr. Amann entered the hospital on January 28.

For a number of years he has operated Amann's Garage and Service Station and Amann's Fuel Oil business on South Central Avenue. Previously, he had been employed as a telegrapher for the Delaware and Hudson Railroad.

He was born in Mechanicville, NY, on October 12th, 1915, the youngest son of of the late Rupert and Fredericka (sic) [Friedericka Schafer] Amann, and had been a lifelong resident of the city. He was a member of Saint Paul's Church and affiliated with the E. H. Strang Hose Company No. 3.

He was an accomplished accordian player, who, with Roy Pearse and George Sluti, entetained at many area dances and festivities.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Florence (Anamier) Amann of Mechanicville; one son, Albert F. Amann, Jr., serving in the U.S. Navy in the Phillipines; two daughters, Mrs. Conrad O'Connor (Margaret) and Miss Susan Amann of Mechanicville; two brothers, Ludwig Alois Amann of Mechanicville and Karl William Amann of Colonie, Albany, and three nephews, Ludwig A. Jr., George T. and John K. Amann.

The funeral will be held Monday at 8:30 a.m. from the Dunn Funeral Home, 319 Park Avenue, Mechanicville, and at 9 a.m. at Saint Paul's Church where a Requiem Mass will be celebrated. Burial will be in Saint Paul's Cemetery.

For the genealogical record, Albert's paternal grand parents are the late Ludwig and Theresia (Brotzge) Amann of Hohenems, Vorarlberg, Austria. They are thought to be buried in Saint Anton's Cemetery, in Hohenems. Albert's maternal grandparents are the late George Charles and Rosine (Schleebach) Schafer formerly of Selgenstadt, Germany. George C. and Rosine Schafer are interred in Hudson View Cemetery, Section Vw, Mechanicville, NY.
