Turner, Lorene Cook age 104 of Birmingham, Al passed away Friday December 27, 2013. She was born in Alabama City, AL August 24, 1909, the daughter of Mattie (Dearman) and George Hope Cook. She was preceded in death by three sisters; Lillian E. Rose, E. Ovada Glass and Nell Jo DeArman. She married Howard Turner on April 24, 1934. They were married for 64 years until his death in 1998. She is survived by her son Colonel G.H. Jerry Turner USA Ret. and his wife Karen, of Bolivia, N.C. and her daughter Mary Alice (Dr. William B.) Stonecypher of Birmingham, AL. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kristene A. Johnson of Sterling, VA, Rebecca Lorene Turner (Duane Desiderio) Silver Spring Md. Michael S. Turner (Kerry), of Racine, WI. And Dr. Mark S. Stonecypher, Maryville, TN. Three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held December 31, 2013 at 12 noon at Forest Crest Cemetery, Birmingham, Alabama with Rev. Richard B. Hanna officiating. The family expresses thanks to the Skilled Nursing Unit at Kirkwood by the River. The funeral was conducted by Ridouts Trussville Chapel.
