Morris Moroni Miller passed away from a heart attack at his home, Tuesday, Sept. 13, 1994.

Morris was born Dec. 4, 1917 in Venice, Utah to Hans Peter and Sarah Ann Lazenby Miller. He was the 16th child. Educated in Venice and Richfield, he received BS and ME degrees in Education from USU. He served in the Texas-Louisiana Mission from 1939-41. A member of the Utah National Guard from 1934-37, Morris then enlisted in the Navy where he served as a Corpsman with the Marines in the South Pacific from 1942-1945. He married Afton Andersen in the Logan LDS Temple on February 26, 1945.

Upon his retirement from teaching school for 36 years, Morris and Afton served an LDS Mission to the Philippines Baguio Mission. He loved missionary work and had a fervent testimony of the Gospel that he loved to share. His church callings included stake missionary, president of the Seventy, High Councilman, executive secretary, branch president, High Priest group Leader, temple worker, and his favorite, Gospel Doctrine teacher.

Morris leaves behind his wife, Afton; two sons and three daughters, Wayne (Nada) of Hawthorne, Nevada; Blaine (Pamela) Price, Maren (Henry) Simpson, Ruth Ann Miller, Layton; Laurel (Scott) Cawley, Ogden. He is also survived by one brother, LaRue Miller, Venice; and two sisters, Arthella Taylor, Fillmore; and Lola Washburn, Taylorsville. He was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd Dee, five sisters and seven brothers.

Also surviving are the pride and joy of his life, 19 grandchildren. They are his legacy and monument that he leaves the world.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 17, at 11 a.m. at the LDS Wasatch Ward, 801 Wasatch Drive, with Bishop James Wood officiating. Friends and family may call Friday 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1074 North Fairfield Road, and Saturday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
