Gordon, J. Copeland--Born, Rushford, Allegheny Co., N. Y., May 13, 1831, son of William and Martha (Gary) Gordon; married Mary F. Nichols, Topeka, Aug. 4, 1857; to Kansas, Nov. 1854; to Topeka, 1855; in 1863 went into hotel business; built Copeland Hotel, 1882, and was proprietor of it to Sept. 1903; entertained, while in hotel business, Pres. Hayes, Pres. McKinley and Pres. Roosevelt. Res. Highland Park.
