Mrs. M. Ruth Flexon Olsen, 89, formerly of Northville, New York, passed away Monday, October 22, 2013, at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam, New York, where she has resided for the past 1-1/2 years. Mrs. Olsen was born February 12, 1924, in Rensselaer, New York, the daughter of the late Thomas and Evelyn Davis Tompson. She was a graduate of Allentown Bible School and College, Allentown, Pennsylvania. She was employed many years ago as a dental assistant by Dr. Leo Roohan of Saratoga Springs, New York, and was a nurse's aide in Maryland and New York State. She was a Pastor's wife for 36 years in the Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed gardening and music and lovingly cared for her family, especially for her daughter, Carol. Ruth was predeceased by both of her husbands, James P. Flexon Sr. in 1978, and H. Paul Olsen in 2005. She was also predeceased by a daughter, M. Beth Buyce Sinisi; a brother, Thomas Tompson III; and a sister, E. Jean Hoffman. She is survived by three children Carol E. Flexon of Northville, James P. Flexon Jr. and Ellen of LasVegas, Nevada, and Laura F. Ginter and Sheldon of Northville; 11 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; several cousins, nephews and nieces, including special nieces, Susan Williams and Anita Pedersen. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Walrath and Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, New York. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2013, at the Baptist Church of Northville, 111 North First Avenue, Northville, with the Pastor Richard C. Klueg and the Reverend Dr. R.W.
