Billy Joe Elliott, age 88 died on September 18, 2018 at his home in Jasper, Alabama.
Billy was born and raised in Jasper, Alabama, he joined the Navy in 1947. He served during the Korean Conflict on the U.S.S. Richard B Anderson, DD786, and earned the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the China Service Medal. Lived and raised his girls in San Diego, California. Retired and moved back to Jasper in 1988. Joined Saragossa Volunteer Fire Department and served with them for over 20 years. He was instrumental in various improvements to his local area fire response capabilities. He will be missed and loved by all who knew him.
Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by his Wife of 53 years-Barbara Nadine; 3 Brothers-Lamon, Leonidas and Charles; Sister-Dorothy Morgan.
