Death of Albert H. Schultz, 76, at the Mason City hospital Monday afternoon brought to a close the life of one of Sutherland's longtime residents. Born at Garwin, Iowa, he came to Sutherland when only six months old, and has since made this his home. He had been taken to Mason City on Wednesday morning last week after becoming ill Tuesday night, and had undergone surgery from which he failed to recover.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church with the Rev. Warren A. Bintz in charge, directed by the Baumgarten Funeral Home. Mrs. Loren Drefke provided organ music.

Paul Biiggs, H. W. Mugge, Marion Crosser, H. B. Erichsen, Roy Hughes and Lloyd Gilbert served as pallbearers. Mrs. Gilbert, Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. .T. D. Williams took care of the flowers. Abiff Lodge, A. F & A. M., had charge of the Masonic rites at the graveside in Waterman cemetery.

Albert had engaged in business in Sutherland, served as town clerk for 25 years, and also spent many years in the post office, serving as acting postmaster during his later years of employment there.

Survivors arc his wife Verna; a daughter, Mrs. H. W. (Rachel) Morgan of Clear Lake; a son, Philip C. Schultz, Mason City, two brothers, Karl Schultz of Brookings, S. Dak., and Gustav of Libertyville, Ill; three sisters, Mrs. L. G. Strang of Antioch, Ill, Mrs. R. C. Townsend and Mrs. Florence Johnson, Brookings, S. Dak.; 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
