Anne Lydia Wood was teaching at a local school in the Spring Bank community near Elkhart IL when she met Rev. James T. Galford who had just been widowed. They married in 1887 and she became a step mother to Anna Evans, Amy, William Vinson, and Gilbert Haven Galford. Soon she would have a family of four girls of her own. Rev. Galford left the Spring Bank area and moved to farm in the Clear Lake Iowa area and was a successful Holstein breeder and farmer. Only the boys from the 1st family moved to Iowa with Anne and returned to Illinois to pursue their dreams.
