Phoebe L. Phillips, age 84, of Brookville, Indiana died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at her residence in Brookville.

Born October 25, 1925 in Wayne County, Indiana she was the daughter of the late Earl Isaiah & Alice Marie (Pinkerton) Helms. She was united in marriage to Herschel L. Phillips on May 27, 1956, and he preceded her in death on January 23, 1987.

Before her retirement in 1982, she was employed for many years at the former Hillman Bros. Ford in Brookville, where she was bookkeeper.

Phoebe was a member of the Brookville United Methodist Church and long time choir member, Tri Kappa and Tri Kappa Associate Chapter; the Daughters of the American Revolution, and sat on the Board of Directors of the Fairbrook Manor. She also enjoyed participating in gatherings of Boston High School (Vice-President Class of 1943).

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stephen L. Phillips of Brookville, Indiana and Rex E. & Janie (Ratz) Phillips of Indianapolis, Indiana; four grandchildren, Tyler Phillips of Brookville, Indiana, Zachary, Elizabeth and Ross Phillips of Indianapolis, Indiana; a sister, Lena Seal of Chicago, Illinois and a sister-in-law, Kay Helms of Richmond, Indiana.

Besides her parents and husband, Herschel, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ellen Phillips; and three brothers, Hascal, Cebert (Wilda), and Arthur (Kate) Helms.

Rev. Curtis Bond, Pastor of the Brookville United Methodist Church, will officiate the Funeral Services on Saturday, June 12, 2010, 10:30 A.M., at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, with burial following in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.

Family & friends may visit from 5 till 8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 11, 2010 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville, Indiana.

Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Brookville Volunteer Fire Department, or Tri Kappa Sorority.
