Susannah's death date is unknown. Her sons divided the two land grants their father had into four properties and sold the first one in November 1797.
The part of Goochland County her father (with his parents) moved to from Paxtang, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, became Albemarle County in 1744. Susannah is said to have been the second born child, after her sister, Jane, of eleven children. Her parents were Michael Woods, Jr. and Anne Lambert, daughter of Charles Lambert. Michael Woods, Jr. and his wife lived in Goochland/ Albemarle County a number of years before moving to Botetourt County. There were so many men in the family named Michael that Susannah's father became "Michael Woods of Botetourt" and her grandfather, "Michael Woods of Blair Park" to distingush them from others. Susannah married Robert Cowan and they settled in Washington District, North Carolina, which became Washington County, Tennessee.

Note: Susannah's grandparents were Sir Michael Woods(of Blair Park), Sr. and Lady Mary Catherine Campbell (Campbells of Argyll, Campbells of Auchingbreck and the Campbells of Cawdor), great-grandparents, Sir John Andrew Woods,II and Lady Elizabeth Woods(a cousin) of Dunshaughlin Castle, County Meath, Ireland.
