Benjamin Franklin Beachtell served during the Civil War under the surname spelling of Becktell. A Union gravestone marker with that spelling was placed on Benjamin's grave site in Forest Cemetery. Becktell is a phonetic spelling of Beachtell, which is also pronounced and spelled Bechtell, Bachtel, and Baechtle. There are rumored to be about 50 versions of the spelling. More to come . . . .

Charles Beachtell died as a young boy in the mid 1860s; burial site unknown. Elizabeth Lucinda (Lizzie Lousindia) Beachtell, Martha Jane (Mattie) Beachtell, Benjamin Burchfield (Birchfield) Beachtell, and Jesse Franklin Beachtell are all buried in Forest Cemetery. Benjamin Franklin Beachtell was the youngest son of George Beachtell and Phoebe Koonce. Known siblings were Lloyd Dawson Beachtell, Charlotte Beachtell, George W. Beachtell, Susan Beachtell, an unidentified as yet dau, and Benjamin Franklin Beachtell. There were several unidentified young females living in the Beachtell home in 1830.)
