BESSEMER, PA. – Wilbur A. "Goog" Anderson, 87, passed away on the eve of Jan. 2, 2014, at the Overlook in New Wilmington, Pa.

Wilbur was born on May 31, 1926, in Bessemer, one of nine children of August and Anna Nord Anderson.

Wilbur attended Bessemer High School and then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his military service, Wilbur wed Dorothy Shelton on June 29, 1950. Sadly, Wilbur loss Dorothy in 1993.

He had served as a Millwright for over 45 years at the Bessemer Cement Co. He was a devoted member of the First Covenant Church in Bessemer, and a member of the Bessemer Coon and Fox Club, and the Bessemer Rod and Gun Club.

Wilbur loved sports from baseball to hunting. In his youth, he was recruited to the Minor League the same time as Chuck Tanner. He was a devoted ("and I mean devoted") Cleveland Browns fan, but also cheered on the Pittsburgh Pirates and Penguins. His pastimes included hunting, fishing, and horseshoes. His grandkids could always count on him being there at any event they had.

Wilbur leaves behind his son, Wayne and wife Janice Anderson of Bessemer; daughter Elaine Ramey and husband Jim of Minerva; son Mark and wife Carolyn Anderson, also of Bessemer; a brother, August "Ambrose" Anderson and wife Mary Ann of Bessemer; seven grandchildren, Kim Paulson, Jason Anderson, Erik Anderson, Lacey Anderson, Luke Ramey, Ben Anderson and Marie Anderson; and six great-grandchildren.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents; wife Dorothy; brothers Barney, Donald and Fred; and sisters Bernice Olson, Kay O'Neal, Ruth Rickard and Ardeth Anderson.

Wilbur will be laid to rest at First Covenant Cemetery.
