SALT LAKE CITY--After a long courageous battle with diabetes, John Shepherd Adams, age 43, passed away at the LDS Hospital October 17, 1991 from complications following kidney and pancreas transplant surgery.

John married Judy Caywood, August 20, 1970 and had one son, Aaron.

John was active in community, church and student affairs. he was Senior Class President at Olympus High School. He graduated from the University of Utah with a BS degree in Business Management in 1970 and a JD degree from the College of Law in 1973. At the University of Utah, he was a member of the Freshman Cabinet, Union Board Chairman, a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, a member of Beehive Honor Society and the Law Society of Bar and Gavel, chairman of the Law Forum and Chancellor of the Moot Court Society and invited to become a member of Law Revue. In his Senior year, he was chosen as a member of the Who's Who Among Students in America Colleges and Universities.

He was a partner in the Law Firm of Taylor, Ennenga, Adams and Lowe, a member of the American Bar Association and the Utah Bar Association, served as president of the Utah Trail Lawyers Association, on the Disciplinary Committee of the Utah State Bar, past president and currently serving on the Board of Directors of the SLC American Diabetes Association, was vice president and on the Board of Directors of the Very Special Arts Council of Utah. He was also an assistant instructor at the University of Utah College of Business. He was an active member of the LDS Church.

He is survived by Judy and Aaron Claywood Adams; his parents, Wendell E. and Ramona S. Adams; and the following brothers and sisters, Stanley, Ann Bradshaw, Douglas, Richard, Wendy Mendenhall, and Kathryn Sidwell, all of Salt Lake City; and many wonderful friends and relatives.

The future, no matter what it holds, will be much richer and fuller because John has been part of our lives.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m., at the Salt Lake 21st LDS Ward Emigration Stake Center, K Street and 2nd Avenue. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Monday, from 6-8 p.m. and at the church Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Utah Chapter of Diabetes Association.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery. Funeral directors, Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary.
