Eugene "Gene" Lester Barnard, 87, of Garland, TX, passed away, Monday, December 30, 2013. A visitation for family and friends has been scheduled at Williams Funeral Home located at 1600 South Garland Avenue in Garland, TX, on Sunday, January 5, 2013 from 5 - 7pm. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, January 6, 2013 at Williams Funeral Home. A small reception will immediately follow the service. Burial will follow afterwards at the DFW National Cemetery which is located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX. Gene was born on June 23, 1926 in Portland, Oregon. He was a retired veteran who proudly served his country for 22 years. For most of his life, Gene has worked in the electronic industry. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Gene is survived by his wife, Ilona Barnard; his grandson, Randy Barnard and his wife Brenda of McKinney, TX; his granddaughter, Madison Barnard; his step-grandchildren - Jessica Carpenter and Joshua Carpenter; his daughter-in-law, Barbara Barnard.
