He was born to the late James R. and Lucille (Thomas) Hansen in Council Bluffs and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1951.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Gene T. Hansen, sister Joan E. White from waterloo, IA, granddaughter Rachel Eva McFadden, grandson Jake Richard, granddaughters Shelby Jane and Grace Annamae.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years Lettie Annamae (Boren) Hansen; daughter Jodie Ellen (Bruce, Jr.) McFadden; sons John Lee (Ellen Rogers) Hansen, Thomas A. Hansen,; daughter Christine Evelyn (Jeremy) Kain; grandchildren Shannon (Shawn) Evans, Rachel Eva McFadden, Bartholomew Scott Hansen, Cody James Hansen, Dallas Scott Meck, Tyler Kain, Christopher Jeremy Kain, Justin Kain, Emma Lucille Hansen, Felicia Kain; great-grandchildren Mussena and Conner Evans, Harlee and Axle Kain.
Jerry retired from PCA (Packaging Corp. of America) after 30 years. He served in the Korean Conflict aboard the U.S.S. Ticonderoga for 4 years. He was a member of Council Bluffs VFW, Eagles, and the Westminster Presbyterian Church. After retirement, he and Lettie traveled in their RV for several years and then settled in Donna, TX for 10 years. After a time of illness, they moved back to be close to friends and relatives.
