He was born on May 2, 1921, in Glenwood to Leonard and Elsie (McRoberts) Richards. He was a World War II Army veteran. He married Esther A. Beneke on March 18, 1944, in Pioche, Nev. He was a member of the Myrin-James American Legion Post No. 443, Ironton. He was an Inland Steel employee.
He is survived by two sons, Greg and Mark; two daughters, Linda, and Gayla; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bessie, Elsie and Alvera.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esther; a daughter, Brenda; five sisters; and six brothers.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby with full military rites given by the Myrin-James American Legion Post.
